SUMMARY:Why Technology has Hijacked the Soul
DESCRIPTION:“Blessed be you\, mighty matter\, irresistible march of evolution\, reality ever newborn; you who\, by constantly shattering our mental categories\, force us to go ever further and further in our pursuit of the truth.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin\n\nWe live in a volatile world where catastrophic events seem to happen spontaneously and ever more frequently.    All sorts of reasons are given to explain our global breakdown but\, in a Teilhardian perspective\, there is only one principal reason:  the breakdown of thought.  Our information-driven world has reduced us to algorithms and hijacked our ability to think\, to perceive what is true and good.   We’ve been hacked.   Is there a way forward?   We will discuss the relationship between religion\, evolution and technology to better understand that we are suffering a crisis of soul\, and will not recover until we can freely transcend toward more life.

SUMMARY:Good News from the Universe for Bad Times
DESCRIPTION:Steve Martin will be presenting a series of three workshops in collaboration with the Guild for Spiritual Guidance entitled “Good News from the Universe for Bad Times: Crisis\, Transformation\, and Deep Trust from a Cosmic Perspective” \nSee the link:  https://spiritualguidance.org/courses-webinars/ \nJoin us as we reflect on the universal nature of crisis\, change\, and transformation as well as the resources available for cultivating resilience and trust during difficult times. Drawing on insights from modern cosmology and the evolutionary perspective\, we find sources of support\, renewal\, and guidance that can sustain us through the challenges we face personally\, culturally\, and globally at this critical time. \nAbout Steve Martin:\nAstronomer\, educator\, and author\, Steve Martin has taught astronomy\, physics\, and consciousness studies at colleges\, universities\, and learning centers across the U.S. for over 25 years. He is currently one of the lead instructors for the Deeptime Network\, and he also consults at the Center for Spiritual Emergence in Asheville\, NC. \nThis program is being offered through the Guild for Spiritual Guidance\, a Spiritual Direction training program and life-long learning community.  See http://spiritualguidance.org for more details on the Guild’s programs.

SUMMARY:Reality Ever New
DESCRIPTION:“Blessed be you\, mighty matter\, irresistible march of evolution\, reality ever newborn; you who\, by constantly shattering our mental categories\, force us to go ever further and further in our pursuit of the truth.”\nPierre Teilhard de Chardin \n\nWe have a choice now to turn the fate of the earth into a hopeful future. Our lifestyles need to change; our value systems need to change\, and our belief systems need to change. All institutional religions and places of higher education have a responsibility to ensure a new integrative framework of Science and Religion. We are too stuck in the past and not enough concerned for the future. This is not a topic for academics to debate or the topic of another conference; it is the fate of the earth. \nJoin Ilia & Greg for an exploration of the true “Ecclesia Catholica”—a celebration of\, and participation in\, the dynamic wholeness of God’s endless Creation. In Teilhard’s words\, a “Mass on the Altar of the World” has no boundaries of time or space\, culture or nation\, nature or technology. It is an everyday celebration of emerging wholeness whereby we must always welcome—and commit to help shepherd—the newness arising always around us.
